Teacher Staff - Northern China

Young Life in Northern Asia has an exciting relationship with an educational foundation that supplies full-time English teachers to Chinese universities. This is a wonderful opportunity to do “old school Young Life work” in an otherwise closed country. We are currently engaged with six Chinese universities within 200 miles of Beijing. Chinese students are quite open and innocent, eager to have relationships with our staff and anxious to talk about what makes life work. This is truly every Young Life leader’s dream – living and working right on campus with kids! You will quickly fall in love with the kids and the culture. China is an amazing place!
We are rapidly expanding, and there are as many as 10-15 positions open for the 2018-19 school year. A two-year commitment is strongly preferred. Our staff are in China for 10 months and then return to the United States for two months in the summer before returning for the next academic year.

We are glad to hire people with a background or degree in education, but this is not necessary. Only five of our 22 staff in China have any prior experience in teaching. We provide training and a TESOL certification, making this a great opportunity for anyone with a desire to invest in students half-way around the world. Applicants who have been out of college for at least two years are preferred, but we do have openings for recent graduates as well.

Staff receive free on-campus housing in nice apartments, a full-time professor’s salary from the Chinese government, and a travel allowance to encourage you to see the country. Our staff only need to raise approximately $10,000 (or less, if you don’t need health insurance) yearly to cover travel, summer training, staff conference, health insurance, visas, etc.

Timing: Our hiring process runs through the early spring, and we hope to have our staff identified and hired before April. We will fly chosen candidates to a Young Life camp in the east for summer training in mid-August, and we usually deploy the last week of August. Summer break usually begins the first week of July.
