Staff Associate II — Issaquah, WA

Description:

We are looking for a full-time staff associate who is excited about growing and developing Young Life club in the Liberty community, which covers Issaquah, Renton and Newcastle.

We are a thriving community with strong leaders and volunteers in place. We have established Campaigners, club and camping, and based on the community growth, we need to add a staffed position to build and provide leadership and develop relationships with students, parents and volunteer mentors/leaders. This work will serve as the foundation for growing our active ministry for the 2,500+ students at Liberty High School and Maywood Middle School.

The Sammamish/Issaquah Young Life Area is active and deep. You’ll work alongside our area director, other staff associates, and part-time staff – giving you an opportunity to learn and grow with peers doing the same work. You will be supported by an active area committee and supportive parent community as you build relationships with students and leaders. You will recruit and manage leaders, engage with the community, raise money and be involved in direct ministry. You will be given the freedom to build Young Life in your community with the support and resources of a large area – all while developing the skills you’ll need for a successful career in Young Life.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a vision and strategy for ministry in your community.
  • Build relationships with kids through sustained, consistent contact work.
  • Recruit and develop student ownership through active discipleship — both informally and formally with Campaigners.
  • Recruit and lead the volunteer leaders in dynamic direct ministry, including club, camp, Campaigners and contact work, setting the example of incarnational ministry.
  • Build relationships with parents, teachers, coaches, donors and community members.
  • Lead kids and leaders at camp and serve on assignment teams as directed by the region.
  • Actively participate in fundraising for the area, as well as raise personal support.
  • Support the administrative needs of the area.

Qualifications:

  • ‎A strong, growing spiritual life.
  • Young Life experience required (prior Young Life employment is not required).
  • Demonstrated success working with middle school and high school kids.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an unstructured environment.
  • Ability to recruit, train and lead adults.
  • Ability to be a team player and to work closely with other staff.
  • Willingness to build and execute fundraising strategy.
  • Drive to become increasingly culturally intelligent in order to effectively engage a growing multiethnic community.

Benefits:

  • ‎Medical, dental and vision coverage.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • 401(k) matching and pension plan.
  • Health club reimbursement and more!

Notes:

Sammamish/Issaquah Young Life is a growing area with ministry in five school communities plus Capernaum ministry. There are more than 70 leaders at 10 different schools (high school and middle school), and more than 600 students in the area participate in camp each year.

Situated in the foothills of the Cascades, Sammamish and Issaquah are culturally vibrant, suburban communities located 15 miles east of Seattle. You are at the doorstep of countless outdoor recreational opportunities and close enough to the big city for any urban, cultural or culinary experience you might desire.
