Staff Associate I or II - Costa Mesa, CA

Description:

​We are looking for a new team member to join the Newport Mesa Young Life family! This staff associates' primary responsibility will be overseeing and leading ministry on the Costa Mesa side of our area. The immediate need will be to lead the two existing ministries (1 high school and 1​ WyldLife), with an eye towards development of new ministries at the remaining high school and middle school. This individual will work closely with the area director to develop and implement a vision for wholistic and robust Young Life ministry to the community of Costa Mesa. They will join a vibrant community with a rich history of Young Life!

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leader for 1 ministry in Costa Mesa:
    • Conducts excellent personal direct ministry to kids at designated school.
    • Leads a team of volunteers in all aspects of Young Life ministry:
      • Prayer.
      • Contact work strategy, and implementation.
      • Club planning.
      • Yearly Camp strategy and implementation.
  • Oversees all ministries in Costa Mesa.
  • Leads and develops team leaders and/or part time staff overseeing other ministries.
  • Develops a unique vision and strategy to reach each campus.
  • Maintains a strong pulse on each campus (key relationships, happenings, etc…).
  • Oversees recruitment, care, and training for all Costa Mesa leaders at all ministries.
  • Works with the area director and committee to develop a vision and implement a plan for new Costa Mesa ministries (Costa Mesa High, Costa Mesa Middle).
  • Develops key adult relationships in Costa Mesa community (parents, teachers, donors, committee members, etc.).
  • Conducts personal fundraising up to area standards and expectations.
  • Completes all regional and national Young Life requirements with excellence (training, weekend and summer assignments, etc…).
  • Assists in all area functions as directed by area director and/or committee (fundraisers, all-area leaderships, retreats, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Evident passion for seeing kids’ lives impacted through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to grow and maintain a wide variety of relationships (kids, leaders, adults, etc…).
  • Initiator/self-starter.
  • Ability to see a project through from vision development to completion.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Internally motivated.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Maintains an appropriate level of professionalism.
  • Minimum 2 year commitment required.
