Staff Associate I — West Linn, OR


​Young Life in West Linn has healthy and strong Young Life and WyldLife ministries. We are looking to hire someone to champion the Young Life team and to sustain and grow ministry. This person would be a dynamic presence on a local high school campus, modeling excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping. We are aiming for an April 1 start date (at the earliest).


​Spiritual Development — “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Capable of leading leaders, committee members, and kids in spiritual development

Leadership Development — “Equipping leaders, committee and staff” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision and vision casting.

  • Meet corporately and individually with the volunteer leaders at the high school on a monthly basis.
  • In partnership with the area director, learn and take action to recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community and meets the needs of the area.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping, bringing leaders alongside in the process.
  • Develop a yearly ministry training strategy for volunteer leaders on the high school team.

Resource Development — “Fueling the ministry” includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding) and Engagement team.

  • Raise $25,000 of personal funding support and maintain good donor care practices as outlined in Young Life’s Personal Donor Development training.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Observe and learn to develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including: principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members as assigned by the area director.
  • Learn to plan, execute and own camp fundraising events under the direction of the area director and committee.
  • Play an active role in planning and executing the West Linn Young Life fundraising events including our annual fall banquet and spring golf tournament.

Direct Ministry — “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners and camp.

  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work (see and be seen, talking with kids, spending time with kids), meeting a minimum of 25 new kids a month.
  • Understand and live out the 3-12-75 model of discipleship.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct Young Life club.
  • Lead Campaigners-centered ministry and use student leadership as a core foundation.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for the ministry.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp as directed by the area director.

Ministry Support — “Taking care of business” includes accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management and strategic plan.

  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management as outlined in the Field Staff Handbook.
  • Manage Young Life finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency using the missionwide applications.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt and professional communication to everyone involved in the ministry.
  • Work with the area director to set a yearly strategic ministry plan for the high school team and initiatives to reach new kids at the high school.
  • Plan will be reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with your personal gifts, experience and area needs.

Training — Phase One (New Staff Training, Leadership I, Leadership II, Apologetics and one Winter Training course are to be completed in the first two years). Attend regional training meetings and ministry skills training assigned by the area director.


  • ​Able to excel at the bearing points of the ministry: Spiritual Growth, Ministry, Leadership, Ministry Support, and Fundraising.
  • College degree preferred (or equivalent mission/biblical training).
  • Young Life experience is a plus (volunteer or paid staff).
  • Be willing, able and qualify to legally drive kids to and from Young Life events.
  • Key words: spiritually mature, self-starter, teachable, driven, faithful, organized, vision-caster, innovator.
