Staff Associate — Visalia, CA

​Young Life Tulare County is seeking a full-time dynamic leader who is called to ministry with teenage parents. This individual would participate in the Staff Associate training program with the intention to fill the YoungLives coordinator position for Visalia and surrounding communities. This individual will work closely with the Young Life area director, as well as, the YoungLives regional coordinator. This person will oversee a well-established club, as well as, grow more clubs in nearby communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Connect with and build relationships with teen parents.
  • Recruit, train and spiritually encourage volunteers.
  • Model, train and delegate club, contact work and Campaigners (bible study).
  • Lead your volunteer team at camp with teen moms and their babies in the summer (five days/four nights).
  • Recruit and lead a committee that lends support for the work.
  • Meet with Young Life Tulare County staff weekly for support, encouragement and growth.
  • Meet with the rest of the YoungLives staff in the California Central Region.
  • Complete required trainings, which may include overnight travel.
  • Ability to serve on summer camp assignments.
  • Fundraise personal financial support, as well as, ministry support.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with donors.
  • Communicate the mission and vision of Young Life/YoungLives.
  • Develop relationships with individuals, local schools, agencies and churches.

Qualifications:

  • ​A deep and growing faith in Jesus.
  • A call to reach teen parents with the Gospel.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Completed college degree.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and time-management skills.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Resides in Visalia.

​Young Life/YoungLives Tulare County has a rich history in the Central Valley of California. YoungLives was one of the first teen mom clubs for Young Life beginning in 1991 by Mary Somerville. Since then, YoungLives has maintained a stellar reputation in the community with growing support from volunteers, committee and donors. The person needed for this role needs to have a passion for their calling to reach teen parents with the Gospel.
