Staff Associate — Eagle Butte, SD


​Young Life, in collaboration with Cheyenne River Episcopal Mission, is seeking a full-time youth ministry director. Candidates should desire to work full time in church and youth ministry on the Cheyenne River Reservation in west-central South Dakota.


  • ​Recruit, train and supervise adult volunteer leaders. 
  • Coordinate youth events.
  • Lead Young Life clubs in several communities on the Cheyenne River Reservation.
  • Develop relationships by interacting with teens in a variety of settings, by attending activities in schools and in the community, and “going into their settings.” 
  • Attend seasonal camps with the teens. 
  • Take responsibility for the management of a ministry budget.


  • ​Love for Jesus and the teens of Cheyenne River’s schools and their communities.
  • A Christian faith and an understanding of the Episcopal Church and their ecumenical partners.
  • Ability to express their own values and faith.
  • Willing to work with youth of indigenous traditions and Christian denominations.
  • Live a clean and sober life.
  • Be a good role model for youth.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic.
  • Work well on a team.
  • Because the director will serve in several communities, the successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license and consistent access to a car.


​The successful applicant will serve under the direction of Mother Mikayla Dunfee (Assisting Priest/Curate) and be overseen by the Young Life North Star Region. Training will be provided by Young Life and will include regular, ongoing training time with other indigenous ministry directors.
