Metro Director I - Rio Grande Valley, TX

Description:

The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Metro area is growing healthily and is in need of a full-time metro director to oversee ministry and development. Ministry in the RGV currently includes three distinct areas of ministry (Harlingen, Mc​Allen, San Benito), one metro YoungLives ministry, one metro Capernaum ministry, and consists of:
  • 2 full-time staff.
  • 4 part-time mission staff (two moving to full time in 2021).
  • Part-time Capernaum staff.
  • 1 full-time, volunteer YoungLives team leader (10 years of trained experience).
  • 1 part-time development associate (grants, foundations, events).
  • 2 committees:
    • RGV Metro Committee (mission-minded professionals who are committed to Young Life thriving across the Rio Grande Valley).
    • Young Life Catholic Initiatives Committee (in partnership with the Brownsville Diocese).

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the metro ministries embody Young Life’s commitment to pursue Gospel outreach and discipleship of every kid in the Rio Grande Valley.
  • Partner with the regional director and committees to cast vision and execute strategies for reaching “every kid” within the Rio Grande Valley, which includes growing our current ministries as well as expansion in new communities.
  • Facilitate a culture aligned with the South Texas Young Life Regional Culture:

  • Facilitate consistent gatherings with committee, leaders and staff that build mission community and provide development, vision and direction to the metro area.
  • Assist in the development of spiritual and leadership growth for volunteer leaders, staff and committee members in the metro area.
  • Oversee development and management of the metro budgets.
  • Supervise, assist in the development, and evaluate metro area staff, providing resources and experiences needed for their growth and to thrive.
  • Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for missionwide efforts, create a plan for cultivating potential donors, not only to solicit gifts but to create long-lasting ministry relationships.
  • Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the metro area is birthed from a place of emotionally healthy spirituality, which is marked by being with the Lord through dependence upon God in prayer, habitual intake of the Scriptures, Sabbath rest, and other healthy rhythms of grace that help one become deeply rooted in a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • As assigned, accept both short- and long-term assignments, including, but not limited to, serving on task forces, writing assignments, leading regional training and leadership events.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a deep, abiding love for Jesus Christ and love for people.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • High level of cultural intelligence and successful cross-cultural ministry experience, particularly with Latino(a) people.
  • Ability to oversee multiple staff and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in developing people.
  • Resiliency and sense of commitment to following through.
  • Fundraising and donor care/engagement experience.
  • Sense of purpose and calling to people along the U.S./Mexico border.
