Direct Ministry — Yakima, WA

Description:

Yakima Valley Young Life is looking for a qualified candidate to join our staff. This full-time direct ministry position will focus on developing new high school and middle school ministries in several smaller, multiethnic communities in the "mid" Yakima Valley (Wapato, Toppenish and Zillah). The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with a veteran staff, yet will also have a good amount of autonomy as they will be working in some communities where Young Life is undeveloped.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and area level.
  • Supervise, support and develop volunteer team leaders.
  • Model excellent contact work, discipleship and club ministry.
  • Work with area staff to develop and execute area vision and a strategic plan alongside the committee.
  • Participate in area fundraising events, area and regional staff events, training and summer camping assignments.
  • Willing to follow all Young Life policies and procedures.
  • Raise personal support. (Amount is negotiable, depending on experience of the candidate. This position will NOT be contingent upon the candidate raising a certain amount of funds.)

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing faith in Jesus.
  • Ability to build strong, deep and lasting relationships with kids and adults.
  • Willingness to partner and collaborate with a large staff team.
  • A servant leader who is teachable, innovative, humble and flexible.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills — as it pertains to donors, leaders, other staff, kids and parents of kids.
  • Spanish language skills preferred; high CQ is a must.
  • Ministry experience preferred but not required.

Benefits:

  • Salary in line with experience and responsibilities.
  • Medical, dental and vision.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.

Notes:

Yakima Valley has a very long and healthy Young Life history. It is a great place to live and work. We have an experienced staff, a supportive committee, and a faithful financial base. We currently have 14 active ministries and are striving to grow. This position would eventually help start, develop and supervise six high school and middle school ministries.
