Direct Ministry — Moore, OK

Young Life in Moore, Okla., is hiring for a direct ministry staff position with potential for becoming an area director. The Moore area possesses some Young Life history, mainly due to the extension of the neighboring area of Norman, which has a strong 30+ year history. Rather than a "re-start," careful steps have been taken to "establish" Young Life in Moore. This area has an eager, energized and fresh adult committee with strong support from the area director in South Central Oklahoma. Key players in the city from local government officials, school districts and businesses, endorse an unlimited potential for ministry at three high schools and six middle schools. This opportunity will be a great for a third- or fourth-year staff person looking to lead in a new area using skills and experience from a staff associate role. There is plenty of opportunity to reach adolescents, as well as a significant need to develop adults as leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the area director, area staff and committee.
  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and missionwide level.
  • Provide strong organizational, communication and planning skills.
  • Provide spiritual leadership, supervision, training and recruitment of leaders.
  • Must be a self-starter. Someone who will take initiative.
  • Model excellent relational work with kids and lead a dynamic ministry (contact work, club, camp, Campaigners). 
  • Develop a community of volunteer leaders to work with adolescents.
  • Actively participate in fundraising for the area, as well as raise personal support for the local area budget.
  • Develop and help train and lead a group of adults in the community serving on the new local committee.
  • Participate in the administrative tasks of the office.
  • Participate in current growing and deepening relationships with area churches.
  • Participation in regional, divisional and missionwide staff development and training.

Qualifications:

  • Young Life experience required.
  • Deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ and love for people.
  • Passion and calling for communicating the love of Christ to people from various backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Self-starter, strong initiative, vision and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong leadership and relational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, recruit, train and develop leaders.
  • Three to four years youth ministry experience. Young Life volunteer and team leader experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree.
