College Director — Fresno, CA

Description:

Fresno State University (FSU) is the most strategic university in our region. FSU is home to 22,000 undergraduates, 98 percent of whom are from California. The Central Valley is the Bible Belt of California. Students that come to FSU know about Jesus, but they don't KNOW Jesus. You will be charged with developing a vibrant ministry that impacts the university, greater Fresno and beyond. FSU is the flagship university for the central valley.

Notes:

As Young Life’s presence in the Central Valley grows, more kids are going to FSU who have YL background. We see this as an incredible opportunity to reach those kids who simply dipped their foot in the waters of faith, as well as those who will resonate with our incarnational approach. We see a community being developed that allows new believers and beyond a place to explore what it means to be His fully committed followers.

The six counties surrounding FSU are home to nearly 150 public high schools. Fresno County has 36 public high schools, each of which should have the potential to grow into a network of Young Life ministries. The impact of a thriving ministry at FSU cannot be overstated.

Fresno is the fifth largest city in California, boasts of an incredible diversity, has a thriving art scene, is one of the most affordable places to live in California, and is a great place to raise a family. The city is situated in the middle of the state, allowing residents to get into the Sierra Nevada in less than two hours and to the Pacific in less than three.

FSU is part of the Division I Mountain West Conference and has competed nationally in many sports. The community rallies around the university. The FSU college director will work very closely with the Fresno/Clovis area director to develop a plan to reach students at the university and beyond.
