Capernaum Director — San Francisco, CA

Description:

Young Life San Francisco is looking to add a full-time Capernaum director to our team. With a metro director, area director, staff associate II and administrator already in place, we are looking for someone to join us in doing multiethnic ministry in an urban, non-Christian context, working in schools where the majority of students are living at or below the poverty line.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an existing Capernaum ministry that includes students from different schools, including a team of adult leaders and weekly club and Campaigners meetings.
  • Weekly contact work at multiple schools and at the community center for kids with special needs.
  • Help the rest of the metro team in leader recruitment/training, local board (committee) recruitment, fundraising events, leader care, and church outreach.
  • Personal fundraising.
  • Recruit and lead a team of volunteer leaders and buddies.
  • Communicate with parents and organize ministry in a way that serves and cares for families with kids with special needs.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is someone who ...

  • Has experience working with people with special needs.
  • Can start, lead and oversee multiple ministry teams (for area director role).
  • Has experience recruiting/leading volunteers.
  • Has experience working directly with teenagers.
  • Is adaptable and flexible in order to meet the vast and ever-changing needs of this student population.
  • Is a willing fundraiser (not necessarily successful) to tap into the vast financial resources of the city, particularly building connections with working millennials.
  • Has a missionary mindset and is willing to live and work incarnationally with a disadvantaged student population in, perhaps, the most expensive city in the country.
  • Is willing to commit him/herself to intentional discipleship with Jesus and in turn recruit disciples.
  • Collaborates well with others as part of the staff team.

Benefits:

  • Salary in line with education and experience, including an appropriate cost of living adjustment (COLA).
  • Full-time Young Life benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and employer 401(K) and pension contributions.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Strong support and training.

Notes:

Young Life San Francisco has a storied history of urban multiethnic youth ministry dating back to the 1970s. Our current ministry team is honored to continue this legacy of cutting-edge ministry in the hotbed of tech innovation by focusing on the basics: living as a true disciple of Jesus. Our dream is that every kid in this city has the opportunity to be invited into life with Jesus by a friend whom they know and trust. We want a teammate to help us ensure that kids of all abilities are included!
