Associate Area Director - Peoria, IL

A suburban area in central Illinois with a rich tradition of Young Life is seeking a high capacity and experienced associate area director who will work directly with team leaders throughout Central Illinois.

With 50 years of Young Life history, Central Illinois Young Life has a strong base of financial support, significant community ties and a strong current leadership team. Five area high schools have Young Life, as well as six middle schools with WyldLife, and a club at a boy’s at-risk facility, as well as YoungLives.

The primary responsibilities include team leader and leader development and supervision. The role will require a passion for developing and recruiting leaders to grow and sustain the ministries, as well as excellent communication skills with both kids and adults. With an authentic focus on Jesus, both personally in the community, the associate area director will work with the area director and the local committee in developing strategies to promote and sustain growth, health and development of the Young Life mission in new and deeper ways. As a part of the Heartland Region, the area will have ideal support, advocacy and networking. We’re excited to see how God is moving and looking forward to what He will do in years to come.

Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual leadership, supervision, training and recruiting of leaders.
  • Good working relationship with the area director and committee.
  • This individual will be working in conjunction with the area administrator to ensure organized and efficient communication with students, leaders, parents, donors and committee.
  • Area resource development as well as personal donor development.
  • Expansion of the area vision and strategic thinking around each community's ministry.
  • Participate in direct ministry in one existing or developing club.
  • Participate in annual staff and training events.

Qualifications:

  • Deep abiding faith in Jesus Christ overflowing to a love for kids.
  • Proven relational skills with youth, young adults and adults.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • An ability to think outside the box and adapt Young Life to fit the needs and characteristics of each community and the area as a whole.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proven understanding of finances, budgeting and support raising (must have existing personal donor base).
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Minimum of three years of Young Life staff experience is required.
