Associate Area Director — Phoenix, AZ

​Vision: To add an associate area director who will take a significant role in helping Paradise Valley and Cave Creek Young Life (PVCC) reach our goal of becoming an inclusive area by helping us advance toward our Vision 2020 strategic plan of adding 150 diverse leaders who go on campus at least four times per month by June 1, 2020. This person will be placed strategically to lead in both a WyldLife and Young Life club in order to strengthen those existing clubs as well as help model and mold volunteer leaders in Paradise Valley and Cave Creek Young Life.

Responsibilities:

  • Senior lead at a high school Young Life club.
  • Organize prayer on campus.
  • Recruit leaders (the team will include at least two male and two female adult leaders, ideally more).
  • Recruit students.
  • Care for and develop volunteer leaders.
  • Train new leaders to become great leaders.
  • Nurture existing leaders to excel even further through the associate area director's (AAD) presence.
  • Teams the AAD leads will grow stronger and will be sustainable if the AAD was to move to another club.
  • Spend time with students outside of club and Campaigners at least once a week.
  • Be on campus at least twice a week at each assigned school, bringing another leader along at least once.
  • Coordinate club and Campaigners locations.
  • Key leader at a WyldLife club; may include senior leader duties.
  • Lead a weekly small group of college students who are currently or are considering being WyldLife or Young Life leaders. This could be a group at ASU, GCU, or independent of a university.
  • Develop strong multiethnic ministry leaders as a key leader of the NextUp minority leadership development program.
  • Attend all meetings.
  • Mentor students in the program as assigned.
  • Assume teaching responsibilities as assigned.
  • Weekly meetings with the area director.​
  • Bi-weekly office meeting with the entire PVCC staff.
  • Attend all committee meetings.
  • Assist in the other regular leadership meetings, all area clubs, area fundraisers, etc.
  • Create and implement new all area events for WyldLife and Young Life clubs.
  • Cultivate relationships with new community members to host all area leadership meetings.
  • Help raise funds for the NextUp program.
  • Annual formal evaluation and major formal evaluation after three years.

Qualifications:

  • A deep passion for Jesus Christ and heart to share that with others.
  • Strong mentoring and pastoral abilities.
  • A love for teenagers and ability to connect with students on campus.
  • A desire and strong ability to be a leader of leaders, not just a great Young Life leader.
  • Hard working, punctual, accountable and dependable.
  • Ability to raise personal financial support of $30k/year.
