Associate Area Director or Area Director — Walnut Creek, CA

We are looking for an experienced area director or talented associate area director who could be developed and trained to eventually assume an area director role.

The bucolic and bustling Diablo Valley area (Walnut Creek/Lafayette/Moraga/Orinda) is a sophisticated, upscale suburban area 30 miles east of San Francisco with approximately 130,000 residents. The area features opportunities for every interest, incredible hiking and scenery, and top-ranked public schools in the State of California, along with high-achieving students. Many corporations, startups and three universities (UC Berkeley, Cal State East Bay, and St. Mary’s) are situated within/near the area.

Young Life has a rich tradition here going back to the 1950s when the legendary Bob Mitchell, who later became president of Young Life, introduced a generation of kids to Christ. The current scope of ministry includes high school Young Life and Capernaum ministries with strong potential for WyldLife. Solid financial and legacy support for Young Life exists in the community, and a strong local board is in place.

Statistics indicate that about seven percent of people attend church in this county, so that presents both challenges and opportunities for ministry. We seek a visionary, entrepreneurial, innovative leader with a passion for Christ and Young Life who will take advantage of existing ministry opportunities, develop staff/volunteers, and harness the historical strength and passion for Young Life in this region to lead us into a new era of dynamic ministry.
