Area Office Administrator — Lakewood, WA


​The Lakewood/Steilacoom Young Life area administrator will work 20-25 hours/week in a critical role for the success of the area. This person will work with the area director and local staff with specific projects relating to: area communications, area events, donor relations, data management, and to assist with details surrounding day-to-day projects.


  • ​Answer phones and emails — be the face of Young Life in the office.
  • Help create flyers for all high school and middle school club events.
  • Oversee a major portion of the Young Life Banquet fundraiser, held in the spring. 
    • For example: registration, data management, making host packets with volunteers, etc.
  • Help with odd jobs around the office or for an event (event set up, filing, organizing, etc.).
  • Print and send thank you notes to donors or leaders. 
  • Go through the donor list and identify donors who have lapsed over the past year and create a way to re-connect with these folks. 
  • Recruit groups of volunteers to assist with completing a project (for fundraisers, leadership events, camp or club). 
  • Help manage camp flyers, payments, fundraising data management, and camp fundraising thank you notes. 
  • Process mail, make copies of donations, send donations to the Young Life national office. 
  • Make calls to local businesses for sponsor support for an event.
  • Assist staff in the day-to-day operations of running a ministry that serves more than 300 adolescents, 60+ volunteer leaders, and five additional staff.

  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and anticipate administration needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and complete with excellence on time.
  • Ability to manage requests from multiple staff members, set realistic boundaries for your workload and willingness to say “no” to staff if needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Basic accounting skills.
  • Teachable and willingness to be trained by area director and staff.


​Lakewood/Steilacoom serves the area of Lakewood, Steilacoom, DuPont, Anderson Island, and JBLM. We currently have two full-time staff and three part-time staff, and our administrator assists the area directors on Anderson Island and JBLM. We have seven active ministries, including Capernaum and YoungLives.
