Area Director III — Pasadena, CA

Description:

Pasadena Young Life, @pasadenayl, is seeking a new full-time area director III. The area, which has a deep history, now has an opening after the last area director transitioned to work more directly with kids and the community. There are some of the most vibrant multiethnic clubs in California, and this area has taken more than 100 kids to camp the last two years. This area has incredible potential to grow and expand much more with the leadership of the right person(s). Specific opportunities include the development of Young Life in a diverse setting with both private and public schools in one of the most iconic cities around Los Angeles.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development – Creating a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.

Leadership Development – Recruiting, developing, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.

Resource Development/Fundraising – While a wonderful support base already exists in the community, this person will lend significant leadership to new and existing fundraising efforts.

Direct Ministry – “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp. Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.

Infrastructure Support – Work with the local committee to build community connections and support the overall organization of the area.

Training – This person will report to the regional director and will be expected to participate in regional and national training events. Fuller seminary is in Pasadena.

Applicants must be called to ministry that will be personally demanding and very challenging.

Benefits:

  • Salary in line with education and experience, including an appropriate cost of living adjustment (COLA) for the area.

Notes:

Pasadena is an amazing place, just 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Many people know about the Rose Bowl; however, Pasadena is one of the most diverse places in Los Angeles. Home of Jackie Robinson, the city has some of the best culture and history in California. One of the tricks will be building bridges between private and public school parents/kids and navigating complex racial and socio-economic differences. It's an amazing place with great history.
