Area Director — Everett, WA

Description:

Everett Mill Creek Young Life is looking for an area director who can lead with drive and passion to take Young Life in our area to the next level. Originally a booming mill town, the community has since transformed, becoming home to Boeing Airplanes and the largest marina on the West Coast. It stands between the Puget Sound and Snohomish River Valley, with the Olympic Mountains to the West and Cascades to the East. Everett Mill Creek has great diversity, both ethnically and socio-economically, adding to the richness of our community. Young Life has been present in the area for the past 50 years and has a deep history of quality ministry. We are committed to reaching the “furthest out” kids and to the discipleship and spiritual health of our volunteers and staff. The Everett Mill Creek area is made up of three traditional public high schools, six public middle schools, and has both YoungLives and Capernaum ministries. There is a healthy donor base and strong committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and area level.
  • Supervise, support and develop current and future area staff (there is currently one part-time staff person supervising YoungLives).
  • Model excellent contact work, discipleship and club ministry.
  • Care for and support our YoungLives and Capernaum ministries.
  • Recruit, develop and sustain healthy volunteer leaders.
  • Continue to develop and execute area vision and strategic plan alongside the committee.

  • Help create and manage the area budget.
  • Participation and leadership in regional staff events, training and camping assignments.
  • Committee recruitment/training/leading and maintaining relationships and roles.
  • Connect and develop strong relationships with local churches.
  • Nurture and care for current financial donors while also inviting new donors into the vision.
  • Develop ministry where it already exists in the area and build it where it does not.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing faith in Christ Jesus.
  • Ability to build strong, deep and lasting relationships with kids and adults including local church representatives, business owners and school employees.
  • Proven pastoral, leadership, vision and team building skills.
  • Fundraising knowledge and success.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills — as it pertains to donors and parents or kids.
  • Experience with, or desire to engage in, cross cultural ministry.
  • Ministry experience preferred but not required.

Benefits:

  • Salary in line with education, experience and responsibilities.
  • Medical, dental and vision.
