Area Director - Juneau, AK


​Young Life in Juneau, Alaska, one of the most beautiful capital cities in the U.S., is looking for someone with the passion and drive to take Young Life to the next level. With a dedicated adult committee and a solid team of volunteer leaders, the next staff person will have the opportunity to build on a solid foundation and grow the mission to reach all kids in this southeast Alaska community of 28,000 people. Almost two thousand adolescents are present: two high schools plus an alternative high school, two middle schools, a small university, and a large home-school population. Juneau has one of only four ski areas in all of Alaska, and adventures abound with wildlife, hiking, fishing and hunting. Summer tourism is a major activity in Juneau with more than 1.3 million cruise ship passengers annually.


  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and corporate level.
  • Supervise and develop the outreach ministry to the three high schools.
  • Oversee the new WyldLife program starting in Spring 2020.
  • Recruit, train, develop and sustain leaders, community volunteers and committee.
  • Develop an area vision and strategic plan.
  • Oversee and participate in the area’s fiscal health.
  • Maintain a supportive personal donor base.
  • Participate in dynamic direct ministry with kids.
  • Build a team to handle the administrative tasks of the job.
  • Participation and leadership in regional staff events and training events.


  • Deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ and love for people.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Proven successful pastoral, leadership, vision and team-building skills.
  • Direct ministry experience with kids and leaders.
  • Understanding of finances and budgets.
  • Demonstrated area fundraising success.
  • Personal fundraising ability.
  • Self-starter.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, especially as it pertains to parents and adults.
  • College degree is preferred.
