Sonoma County is beautiful in many ways. It is an international vacation destination, as some of the best wine in the world is made right here. Santa Rosa, the county seat, is one hour north of San Francisco and 45 minutes from the beautiful northern California coastline. It is also beautifully diverse, both culturally and economically. Of the 500,000 people living in the county, the two largest ethnic groups are Caucasians (nearly 75%) and Latinos (nearly 25%). Santa Rosa, the largest city in the county, is home to 180,000 people, 60% of whom are Caucasian, 30% are Latino, 5% are Asian, and 5% are other ethnicities. Santa Rosa has five public high schools and eight public middle schools. The county overall has another 10 public high schools and 12 middle schools.

Current Ministry: This area has a strong and supportive committee, and God has worked mightily through it over the past year. The area currently has $65,000 in its account, with a monthly base of $1,600 a month from 30 monthly donors. A candidate would still, however, be expected to bring a significant base of support to the area. There are three ministries the area director would oversee and support, with hopes of building more throughout the county. There is a newly formed high school ministry in Santa Rosa and well-established high school clubs in Sonoma and Healdsburg — two towns near Santa Rosa.
