Area Director — Richardson, TX

​Richardson Young Life is an established area that is looking to hire an area director. We are looking for someone with previous area director experience to oversee, lead and grow ministry in the area. Current Young Life is active in three high schools, two middle schools and a YoungLives ministry. There are currently two full-time direct ministry staff and one part-time YoungLives coordinator. There is a solid financial support base, a healthy committee and supportive adult involvement. The area sits in the Northeast Texas Region, which includes 33 areas and 70 full-time staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and area level.
  • Recruit and train staff and leaders to build leadership teams that reflect the community.
  • Build healthy mission community among staff, leaders and committee while providing vision and direction.
  • Supervise, develop and evaluate area staff, providing resources and experiences needed to implement the vision.
  • Observe and evaluate each of the schools/ministries in the local area annually.
  • Lead a model Young Life club, and lead an effective Campaigners ministry with excellence.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders.
  • Develop and lead the area’s fundraising strategy and ensure excellence in communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds to carry out the ministry vision for the local area, keeping the area consistently in surplus (goal is a one-month cash reserve minimum).
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency using the missionwide applications.

Qualifications:

  • Previous Young Life staff experience required, preferably 5-10 years.
  • Require completion of Young Life Core Training Phase 1.
  • Love for Christ and kids.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Proven relational and leadership skills with youth and adults.
  • Ability to recruit, train and lead adults.
  • Ability to raise personal support.
