Description:

Greater Olympia Young Life is hiring a new area director to start right away. The exact start date is flexible and will be determined upon hiring. The Greater Olympia area includes three cities at the southern end of Puget Sound in Washington State, each their own school district: Olympia, Tumwater, and North Thurston (city of Lacey). We have grown from four to 15 ministries in the last five years — now with seven high school and seven WyldLife clubs and a YoungLives. We are looking for an area director to lead the area with fresh vision and to manage a staff team which currently consists of two associate area directors and an area office administrator. This position could be an area director I, II or III.

  • Primary focus is spiritual and emotional health of self and those they lead.
  • Lead the area vision and strategy for contact work, club, Campaigners and camp.
  • Participate in dynamic direct ministry with students.
  • Lead, develop and empower the staff team for leadership in the area.
  • Recruit, train and support volunteer leaders.
  • Partner with the committee chair in leading and developing the area committee.
  • Lead the strategic planning and financial development of the area alongside the committee.
  • Develop, care for, and communicate with financial supporters for the area.
  • Build connections with local church and business leadership.
  • Participate in staff training and summer camp assignments.
  • Raise personal financial support.

Qualifications:

  • A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  •  Proven spiritual leadership, vision casting and team building.
  • Gifted in working with adolescents and adults.
  • A drive to engage in multiethnic ministry.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with a willingness to be trained and led.
  • Professional, responsible and strong follow through.
  • Able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Successful fundraising experience.
  • Young Life staff experience required.
  • College degree preferred.

Benefits:

  • Full-time salary based on experience, education and responsibilities.
  • Health insurance (including dental and vision) for employee and family members.
  • Pension and 401(k) programs, and basic life insurance.
  • Ministry-related expense, mileage and cell phone reimbursement.
  • Young Life regional and national training program.
  • Continuing education credits and financial assistance.

Notes:

The Greater Olympia area recently celebrated 50 years of Young Life ministry, and has experienced many ups and downs over the years. We are currently healthy and growing and have a desire to see ministry in all middle schools, high schools and colleges in our area, in addition to YoungLives and Capernaum

It is a suburban area, with a wonderful multicultural dynamic and a wide socio-economic range across the community. Olympia, the capital city of Washington State, and the surrounding area is an ideal place to live and raise a family! Close to the Puget Sound and the mountains, outdoor adventure is easily accessible.
