Area Director — Dover, DE


​Central Delaware is a suburban community with a rich Young Life history of more than 25 years. The community is supportive of Young Life and committed to reaching a diverse group of kids with the Gospel.

We are seeking an energetic area director who has completed the Young Life Staff Associate training program and is excited to lead the Young Life ministry in Central Delaware.

With more than 25 years of Young Life history, Central Delaware has a strong base of financial support, community ties, and current volunteer leadership. Two area high schools have Young Life club, and there is an opportunity to develop WyldLife, YoungLives and Capernaum ministries. The faithful committee has many years of experience and is excited to welcome a new area director.

The primary responsibilities include leader development and church relationships, as well as direct ministry and ministry support to the Central Delaware community. The job will require a passion for developing and recruiting leaders to grow and sustain the ministries, as well as a demonstration of excellent communication skills with both kids and adults. With an authentic focus on Jesus, both personally and in the community, the area director will work with the committee and leadership team in developing strategies to promote and sustain the growth, health and development of the Young Life mission in new and deeper ways.​


  • ​Spiritual leadership, supervision, training and recruitment of leaders.
  • Growing and deepening current relationships with area churches, as well as developing new ones.
  • Good working relationship with the committee.
  • Work alongside the current mission staff to ensure leader and ministry health.
  • Organized and efficient communication with donors, committee, parents and leaders.
  • Area resource development as well as personal donor development. 
    • Must raise $20,000 in personal support.
  • Participate in direct ministry in one existing or new ministry community.
  • Participation in annual staff events and training events.


  • ​Deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ overflowing to a love for people.
  • Proven relational skills with youth, young adults and adults.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proven understanding of finances, budgeting and support raising.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Minimum of two years full-time Young Life staff experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Central Delaware Young Life has a cohesive relationship with neighboring areas in Delaware that provide staff and community support. This relationship also allows for the possibility to participate in ministry events and summer camp together if desired.
