Area Director — Central Dallas, TX

Description:

​Central Dallas is a mulit-ethnic area located in Dallas “Uptown”, next to downtown Dallas.  This is a hard to fund area, with kids from many different countries and a significant homeless population.  It is made up of one high school, North Dallas High School and 2 middle schools and a YLVS ministry. The area sits in the Northeast Texas Region which includes 35 areas and 75 full-time staff members, most located within one hour of each other.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and area level.
  • Recruit and train staff and leaders to build leadership teams that reflect the community.
  • Build healthy mission community among staff, leaders and committee while providing vision and direction.
  • Supervise, develop and evaluate area staff, providing resources and experiences needed to implement the vision.
  • Observe and evaluate each of the schools/ministries in the local area annually.
  • Lead or co-lead a model Young Life club; lead an effective Campaigner ministry with excellence.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders.
  • Develop and lead the area’s fundraising strategy and ensure excellence in communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds to carry out the ministry vision for the local area, keeping the area consistently in surplus (goal is a one-month cash reserve minimum).
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency using the mission-wide applications.

Qualifications:

  • Previous Young Life staff experience required, preferably two - three years
    • Require completion of Young Life Core Training Phase 1
  • Must be bilingual
  • Love for Christ and kids
  • College degree preferred
  • Proven relational and leadership skills with youth and adults
  • Ability to recruit, train and lead adults
  • Ability to raise personal support
