International Adventure Camp Manager

Young Life is looking for an International Adventure camp manager in the beautiful and mountainous country of Romania. On top of traditional Young Life camping opportunities in the Central and Eastern Europe region, we are looking to expand and provide adventure camping for outreach and discipleship ministry. We currently have a base camp in Romania and are able to run adventure camps; however, we would like to have a full-time staff person to lead and develop this opportunity further. This camp would serve the needs of the Central Eastern Europe Region and possibly the greater Europe Division as a whole. There is a great opportunity here to include Young Life University, high school outreach, discipleship camping and serve other needs of local ministries in the region.

  • Develop the International Adventure Camping program to work with Czech, Polish, Bulgarian and possibly campers from other countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
  • Work alongside an experienced Romanian adventure camping person whom we partner with. Our current partner’s program is only working with Romanian students, and we want to expand this to students from other Central and Eastern European Countries.
  • Work with our Romanian Adventure Camping partner to further develop the base camp.
  • Oversee compliance with established Young Life policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive and relevant systems and procedures.
  • Raise personal support to cover this role.
  • Manage the budget and pricing of adventure camping opportunities.
  • Guide adventure camping trips in Romania but also possibly short trips in other areas in Central and Eastern Europe.
  • Train European adventure camping guides.
  • Coordinate with the regional camping director and possibly area directors to promote and lead the effort of this new opportunity.

  • Young Life adventure camping experience required; staff experience preferred.
  • At least two years of ministry experience.
  • Adventurous and adaptable attitude for a new culture. Must be able to relate, work and build community in a multilingual region.
  • Must be a self-starter who can pioneer new ministry without direct oversight.
  • A self-motivated personality who is disciplined in creating and achieving goals on their own.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others within and across the organization.
  • Willing to make a three-year commitment.

Housing supplements and cost of living adjustments help make living overseas affordable for international staff. In addition, staff may be reimbursed for the purchase or lease of a vehicle, an annual personal trip to see family, pre-K-12th grade private school education for dependent children, language school, moving expenses, and a one-time bonus of up to two-months' salary.
