Director of Regional Team Development - Africa/Middle East (U.S. based)

Join the Africa/Middle East (A/ME) Divisional Team while remaining in the U.S. by serving and supporting Regional Teams for the division. This Director position will help grow the size and effectiveness of Regional Teams to serve and support Young Life regions across Africa and the Middle East. This person will serve on the A/ME Development Team and will work closely with the Senior Vice President of A/ME, the Executive Committee Chair, and the Executive Team that is spread out around the world as they work together to help the vision of Regional Teams become reality in number, depth of effectiveness, engagement and connection.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Young Life A/ME Executive Committee.
  • Work closely with A/ME Committee Chair, Executive Committee, Director of Development and Senior Vice President to develop and execute a plan to grow the Young Life A/ME Regional Teams and Committee in the following areas:
    • Numerical (e.g., 300+ total members and 25+ highly engaged members for each Regional Team in the next five years). Presently, the Young Life A/ME Committee has approximately 100 members.
    • Relational (coaching and engagement with A/ME Young Life Staff, Committee and Regional Team members).
    • Health and satisfaction for volunteers.
    • Effective execution in goals and outcomes.

  • Develop new and measurably effective Regional Team models and structure.
  • Work closely with all Regional Team Leaders to help them and their sub-teams reach maximum effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications and the Communications Team to ensure effective connectedness between Regional Teams, African Staff and Committee.
  • Advise the Senior Vice President, Committee Chair, Executive Team and Director of Development when needed on strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development to track and monitor effectiveness of Regional Team/Committee funding engagement, appreciation and networking.
  • Encourage Regional Team and Committee members to “Come and See” Young Life A/ME via donor engagement trips.
  • Represent Young Life Africa/Middle East (and the Senior Vice President) when needed on various teams, with other organizations and at conferences.
  • Look for synergy opportunities that grow Young Life A/ME and serve the Forward campaign (“Forward “is a five-year missionwide initiative led from office of the President of Young Life).
  • Be available to other mission leaders as needed.
  • Serve in an advisory/strategic role on teams working on large projects with field and mission services components.

​Optional Duties

  • Involvement on Young Life Africa/ME Committee.
  • Involvement in a local U.S. Young Life ministry in some capacity.

Working Conditions

  • Work location: Anywhere in the U.S. with close and affordable proximity to a major airport.
  • Setting: Daily office environment.
  • Extensive travel across the U.S. connecting with: Regional Team members, potential members, Executive Committee, U.S. Young Life Staff, etc.
  • Frequent communication, availability and collaboration with team is required.
  • A minimum of one trip to Africa/Middle East every two years.
  • Other trips expected for training and meetings.
  • This position is fully self-funded (e.g., personal donor base/team is developed and maintained).

  • Previous volunteer and staff experience leading Young Life ministry is desirable.

Education
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (from an accredited college).
