In this culturally vibrant country, there is great opportunity to start and sustain new work while also supporting current Young Life ministry in a number of key locations including: St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Perth, the Highlands and Dundee — where we currently have the only YoungLives ministry in Europe.

This position will be an integral part of the regional senior staff team serving under the leadership of the regional director.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and corporate level.
  • Provide overall leadership for Young Life ministry in Scotland.
  • Supervise current staff and Young Life areas.
  • Develop new ministries and opportunities that are culturally appropriate for the context of the schools.
  • Develop a community of staff and volunteer leaders — both to work with kids and to serve on local committees.
  • Collaborate with the national staff as a team to train, disciple and develop volunteer leaders.
  • Oversee the resource development of the country; meet with donors and oversee fundraising events and networking opportunities.
  • In collaboration with area directors, develop camping strategies to see a growing number of students and leaders going to camp.
  • Train, coach and model dynamic direct ministry with students (contact work, Campaigners, club, and more).
  • Serve on the regional senior staff team; attend all meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  • A deep love for Christ and lost teenagers.
  • A Young Life background with a proven track record of starting new ministries is strongly preferred; previous staff experience preferred.
  • Adventurous and adaptable attitude for a new culture. Must be able to relate, work and build community in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Vision and ability to recruit, develop and multiply leaders.
  • Ability to identify and develop fundraising opportunities in the local community.
  • College degree required.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • A teachable heart and a desire to help others learn as well.
  • Be willing to make a three-year minimum commitment with a vision for a longer term involvement in Scotland.

Benefits:

Housing supplements and cost of living adjustments help make living overseas affordable for international staff. In addition, staff may raise funds and be reimbursed for the purchase of a vehicle, an annual personal trip to see family, pre-K through 12th grade private school education for dependent children, language school, moving expenses, and a one-time bonus of up to two-months’ salary.
