Spiritual Development — “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health and church relationships.
- Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
- Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
- Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
- Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
- Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the area, is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that takes place out of the overflow of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Leadership Development — “Equipping leaders, committee and staff” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building and training, supervision and vision casting.
- Grow strategic thinking and functional skills of the communications team across all channels (e.g. website, email marketing, print, social media, events).
- Work cross-functionally with Operations and Development to engage donor base and support fundraising efforts.
- Advise senior vice president and domestic lead team on strategic initiatives. Participate on the SVP lead team.
- Be available to other mission leaders (including international communications staff in other divisions) as needed.
- Support Regional Team directors in building regional teams.
Resource Development — “Fueling the ministry” includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding) and TDS team.
- Lead/build communications team (currently one full-time employee, one part-time intern with proposed job title revisions and hiring plan).
- Develop and implement multi-channel communications strategy, including branding, messaging, content development and metrics.
- Work with the senior vice president, Development director/RTDs to create and implement a donor communications strategy.
- Work with the Development team to ensure excellent communications between staff/country sponsors (both from the U.S. and field).
- Oversee website content development/iteration.
- Innovate new projects (e.g., communication missionary program, road show materials).
- Build in-country communication resources to capture and deliver vibrant stories of lives changes by the mission of Young Life.
- Liaise with other international divisions on communications projects (e.g. Relationships articles, podcasts).
- Supervise creative development with creative partners (e.g. BLVR, Young Life Creative Services).
- Oversee training development for field communications staff.
- Maintain current market knowledge of communications tools.
- Participate on Domestic Lead Team; update Dashboard metrics.
- Participate/attend SALT in Africa/Middle East with the objective of translating key themes and focus into deeper engagement for the donor/sponsor/friend community.
Direct Ministry — “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners and camp.
- Connect with field and domestic staff and regional team members at least annually.
- Involvement in a regional team.
Ministry Support — “Taking care of business” includes accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management and strategic plan.
- Consistently evaluate donor engagement via metrics, surveys, focus groups and other means.
- Track critical metrics. Currently: website users – 7,000; social media followers – Facebook (6,200), Instagram (4,300); email list (Motherlode – 2,000); (Habari Gani – 200); Active Donor Base – 3,000 (approximate).
- Serve in advisory/strategic role on teams working on large projects with field and Mission Services components.
- Support senior field and field communications staff with communications tools and equipment as needed.
