Area Director — Tigard-Tualatin, OR

​Young Life in Tigard and Tualatin is seeking to hire a dynamic area director to continue the long-standing and rich history of ministry in our community. We are looking for an area director to join us in developing a strategy to reach kids in this diverse and growing area, and we seek to capitalize on the opportunity to hire staff who reflect the community. The team consists of a full-time associate area director, part-time administrative assistant, a dedicated group of committee members, and a passionate team of volunteer leaders. We are looking for a strong leader to solidify and encourage our existing two high school ministries, while looking to develop a robust program at the three middle schools.

Responsibilities:

  • ​Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and corporate level.
  • Supervise, support and develop area staff.
  • Develop and sustain student leaders and adult volunteers, including a committee.
  • Develop and execute an area vision and strategic plan.
  • Work in partnership with the committee on the financial development of the area.
  • Participate in dynamic direct ministry with kids.
  • Participation and leadership in annual staff events and training.
  • Committee recruitment/training/leading and maintaining relationships and roles.

Qualifications:

  • A Christlike character that is built on the reliance of the Holy Spirit to help lead and guide.
  • A philosophy and history of discipling others.
  • Ability to build, train, recruit and grow teams of people (student leaders, adult leaders and committee members).
  • A vision and plan to grow current ministries in reaching kids, leaders, committee and parents.
  • A passion for reaching lost kids and calling others to that mission.
  • A servant leader who is teachable, innovative, collaborative and flexible.
  • Proven leadership skills, strong organizationally, and great communicator to kids and adults.
  • Years of experience on Young Life staff, understanding budgets and assisting with finances.
  • Knows, understands and is on the ground in the culture of kids today.
  • Spiritually and emotionally healthy and willing to get the support/mentors needed to maintain.

Notes:

​Tigard and Tualatin are suburban towns about 15 minutes southwest of Portland. It is a growing community with two high schools and three middle schools.
