November 2017

Dear Friend,

It was a hot night in Nicaragua. The last bit of sunlight slipped from the dirt courtyard of the cement-block home where Young Life leaders prepared for what looked like a party. They taped balloons to the rough walls, opened bags of candy and carefully organized plastic chairs into optimistic rows. When the preparations were complete, the leaders breathed a silent prayer, “Lord, please bring kids to club!”

That night in Nicaragua the optimistic chairs were not disappointed. By the time the leaders launched into the first song, some 60 kids joined in the chorus, laughing and dancing without reserve. After songs and a couple of games, one of the leaders stood up, opened her Bible and shared the greatest story ever told.

Nestor was one of the kids at club that night. Nestor met Christ at camp and has been growing deeper in his faith for the past 14 months. On this night Nestor slipped out of club before the end of the message so a leader could wrap him in packing tape, sticky side out, and then cover him with candy. At the end of the club talk, Nestor the human piñata made his entrance and was happily mauled by his amigos. It was the perfect ending to a party in Jesus’ name.

Thank you for supporting Young Life. Thank you for helping us throw parties in the name of Jesus each week across this country and around the world. It is a privilege to partner with you in this joyful proclamation of the gospel. Thank you again for your support.

In Christ for all kids,

Newton F. Crenshaw
