Amicus

Amicus, which comes from the Latin word for “friend,” was designed as a quality exchange program where international students could experience “the greatest year of their lives.”

Amicus focused on building relationships with the foreign students by placing them in homes of adults with Young Life backgrounds, inviting them to club (as well other Young Life activities) and then to camp at the end of their school year.

The program was also designed to encourage participants in their continued spiritual growth and, when possible, involvement in Young Life upon returning to their home country.  In fact, Amicus alumni have been an important part of the ongoing growth and impact of our international ministry.

We are so thankful for everyone who participated with Amicus — international students, host families and our faithful Amicus staff.

The many lessons we learned from four decades of Amicus inform what we’re still doing with our international ministry.
