Quick Facts

Who: Approximately 30 active-duty JBLM Service Members and their Families. Please note: Single-parent Families and cases where one spouse is performing official military duties but the other spouse/children can attend, are invited to participate as well.

What: Military Family Camp at Young Life's Malibu Club. Note: Young Life is a Christian organization, but being a person of faith is not a requirement to attend. There will be a nightly program with a short message and sing-a-long songs, as well as numerous recreational activities — for example: water-skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, kayaking, ropes course, swimming pool, zip line, hiking, canoeing, climbing wall, basketball, sand volleyball, disc golf course, playground and inlet boat tours. There will be an itinerary for group activities every day of the camp, but it is not mandatory to participate in all activities. Childcare is available on site during scheduled activities.

When: August 20 - 27, 2017

Where: The Malibu Club is located on the Princess Louisa Inlet about 100 miles north of Vancouver, British Columbia. Busses will be contracted to transport families from JBLM to the ferry at no cost to the families.  

Why: To allow Service Members and their families to get away from the stresses of everyday life, spend quality time together, laugh a lot and be restored.

How Much: Thanks to anonymous and generous donors, you pay only a small registration fee for your entire Family for the week. This fee covers all meals, activities, lodging and transportation for the Family for the week. The fee is based on rank; specifically: E1-E5 – $50; E6-E9 – $75; CW1-O3 – $100; O4 and above – $150.


Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How do I apply?
    Visit militaryfamilycamp.younglife.org and click on a date under the JBLM heading. Applications will be accepted beginning March 1 through May 25. Space is limited, so apply now! Notification of selection will occur no later than six weeks prior to the start date of camp. In order to accommodate as many Families as possible, you will only be allowed to attend Military Family Camp once.

    If you are selected to attend, your registration fee (paid at the time of notification) will guarantee your slot. Do not send money with your application.

  2. What about pets, alcohol and smoking?
    Unfortunately pets/alcohol are not allowed for this week. Smoking is allowed in designated areas only.

  3. What should I bring?
    The only things that Families need to bring are their personal items (outdoor clothes, swim suits, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, etc.), snacks if they want, and a willingness to relax and have fun.

  4. What are the lodging accommodations like?
    The rooms are like dorm rooms with multiple bunk beds and private bath — minus the television and telephone. The camp also includes several lounges with fireplaces, a game room, gift shop, gym and snack bar.

  5. Do I need to bring/plan for additional expenses beyond the registration fee?
    There are no additional charges above the registration commitment fee. Malibu does have a gift shop, game room and snack bar in which you may want to make purchases. This is an individual choice.
