Voices of Young Life
Serving on our area Young Life committee seems like the least I can do to support our staff and volunteers. When I see what they accomplish and how much they sacrifice, I'm humbled. - Caryn, Indiana

Adults Who Care

Neither my wife nor I were Young Life kids, so when Young Life started at our son's high school and he started going to club, it was all new to us. Once we understood the unique challenge and mission of Young Life, joining the area committee seemed like the least we could do. I now chair that committee, my wife and oldest son are volunteer leaders, and my other son and daughter are Campaigners. You might say we're "all in." – Tom, Pennsylvania

My son has returned from camp changed. He's different, and I could tell from our first conversation yesterday on the phone. He's always been a good kid and a son I've been proud of. Only now there's a new dimension, a new light, a calmness to him that wasn't there before — he's centered in his love for JESUS CHRIST! He has plans for next summer serving God at Saranac and plans for his life beyond that — God's plan and God's work!
– Mom from Virginia

My volunteers are really very committed people, and one thing that makes me excited is their ability to sacrifice even their little. I think that is what we need today — a people who are ready to put themselves on the edge for Christ. I know Young Life has given us encouragement. It has given me hope for this nation. I know that if we continue in this way, things will be better in the future. – Simon, Uganda

I am thankful for Young Life in my son's life. He attended WyldLife (we hosted a couple of meetings at our house) in middle school a few years ago and has recently reconnected with Young Life in Louisville, Ky. The leaders are wonderful. I've met some that have been there for years and that's a great sight, to see dedicated involvement over such a period of time. Amy and Adam have been especially instrumental in my son's attendance during these difficult and highly influential high school/peer pressure times. I wanted to let someone at your organization know how much they, and all the leaders in my son's group, are appreciated! – Shirley, feedback via younglife.org

I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate what you guys do with the kids. The vice principal came by and told me that many of the lunchroom monitors were away for training and asked me if I wanted her to get some teachers to come and help (watch kids during lunchtime). I turned around and saw the Young Life leaders and told her, "No we're alright. Young Life is here."

Being involved on the Young Life committee has been something that we've gladly given our lives to over the years ... having been the beneficiary of other's investments while we were in high school. We live in a community where investment in kids' lives is even more important than ever given the pressures on families, the pull of the media and a culture that is unfortunately overindulgent. Young Life's ability to respond to kids by sending adults into their world and caring for them as Jesus cares for them is a thrilling part of being on the local committee in any community that we've lived in over the last 25 years. – Greg and Mary, committee members
