Young Life provided a safe harbor for my son and a high degree of acceptance. This means a lot to us. Thank you! - Parent from Virginia

Multicultural Camping

Young Life is for every kid. And Multicultural Young Life knows that sometimes for kids to really see what the love of Jesus Christ is all about, they need to be in their own cultural context. That’s why Young Life offers Multicultural weeks — a time where kids of color from small and large urban communities around the country gather at various camps during the summer for the best week of their lives. In places like Windy Gap with the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop, kids encounter Jesus Christ through the love of their leaders and the message of the Gospel. Dramas, multimedia presentations and music, in addition to great food, incredible activities and “no way” surprises, connect to kids where they are and draw them closer to Jesus Christ.

Young Life has also been creative in developing new types of camping opportunities, including sports camps and weekend camps, such as those taking place during the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.

Because financial resources aren’t always available, the annual Urban Campership Campaign provides the funding that allows many of these kids to go to camp. If you’d like more information about this scholarship program or multicultural camp weeks, contact the Multicultural office at (719) 381-1867.
