Volunteer Front Desk Receptionist



Position Note: We are looking for volunteers to serve between the hours of 1-5 p.m.

Description:
A customer service-oriented person who represents Young Life in a professional manner to staff, vendors and visiting public while providing back up to the Building Services department and assistance to other Service Center departments as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet, screen and route Service Center staff, visitors, vendors, contractors, laborers and visiting camping and field staff.
  • Assure that appropriate security badges are provided to all guests and that all guests are appropriately escorted.
  • Assure that all Service Center staff are wearing security badges and provide them with alternative badges as necessary.
  • Close lobby and maintain professional presentation of lobby and personal workspace.
  • Answer general questions about Young Life. These may include questions regarding the application process and mission purpose.
  • Route requests for information to appropriate department or provide appropriate corporate literature to those requesting it.
  • Contact Service Center tour coordinator when a tour request arises.
  • Maintain awareness of procedures for Service Center and/or lobby emergencies and facilitate communication during emergencies as necessary.
  • Follow Building Services procedures for maintenance requests or security issues.
  • Work in conjunction with the security officer to ensure shared duties are appropriately handled and understood.
  • Work in conjunction with the security officer to coordinate breaks and other responsibilities that will take you away from the front desk.
  • Perform Building Services department tasks as necessary to support the Building Services department and the Service Center.

Qualifications:
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (40 to 45 wpm).
  • Must have previous customer-service experience.
  • Must have exceptional customer-service skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong Internet-navigation skills.
