Voices of Young Life
I always thought my high school Young Life leaders were cool, and I really looked up to them. - Angie, Washington

What is Young Life?

Young Life believes that the greatest asset we have in our communities is our children. Because of this conviction, the Young Life committee is a group of adults who are committed to providing every kid in their community the opportunity to be invited into a relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this through:

  • Prayer
  • Care for the local Young Life staff and volunteers
  • Financial support
  • Promoting Young Life in the community

The area director works closely with the local committee. Under the supervision of a regional director, he or she is responsible for the ministry of Young Life, the training of volunteers and the day-to-day administrative operations. The committee gives Young Life credibility in the community; they also provide guidance to the direction and vision for the local Young Life area.

Although the Young Life committee has a responsibility to support and raise the resources to ensure the sustainability of Young Life in their community, Young Life committee members frequently say that they receive exceedingly more than they give. Members receive tremendous fellowship opportunities with other dynamic Christians. They get to be a part of a spiritually enriching group that meets to pray, goes on periodic retreats and sees firsthand what God is doing. Finally, committee members have a significant purpose; they are participating in an organization with a vision and mission that will change the lives of kids forever.
